"Timing delay"
Our journey out to Rhodes went well, but as we were leaving the boat, a female member of staff, later in the Rhodes booking office, warned us to be at the quay at 3pm rather than 4pm on Wednesday 30th October, as Greek time was one hour behind Turkish time and the boat would be sailing at Turkish time. We duly arrived at 3pm as did others and boarded, only to be sitting on board for one and a half hours before we finally set sail at 5:30pm Turkish time. This was very difficult for us, as we had car hire waiting for us and also timed accommodation. When we were collecting boarding cards, a group of people were chatting to the female member of staff in a language I didn't understand and they didn't come on board until 5:20, so I assume they were told of the delay. Other passengers told us that they had phoned in the morning and been told that the sailing would be at Greek time. My husband queried the timing with the crew at around 4.45pm and was told there was plenty of time left. The catamaran to Marmaris left at Turkish time, but not us. Why did the lady in the ticket office not let us know that the timing had changed, bearing in mind she was the one who told us to come early? Very frustrating!
"Fast and reliable. "
My ticket said 30mins which was confusing, but it was 90mins on the hydrofoil. Comfortable with snacks and drinks available.
"Great to get between Rhodes and Fetiye"
Fast punctual crossing. Just annoying that the £10 euro tax to be paid when you pick up your ticket is not mentioned on the confirmation email when you have already paid £36.45 and the ticket is only €30 plus €10 for the tax at ticket office.
"Great day trip!"
We travelled on the Aegean Prince from Fethiye to Rhodes and returned the same day. The departure times from Fethiye and Rhodes are ideal for a day trip. The service from Fethiye was delayed en route due to choppy waves so we had to travel at a slower speed, but the return journey was high speed all the way. I think the check in time at Fethiye should be reduced as we were sat on the boat for over an hour before departure and some passengers embarked late.
"Delayed"
The ferry doesn’t go at the right time and the other ferry came too late in Fethiye, so we missed the bus to Kas
"Don't bother"
Tatty vessel, in need of major refurbishment. The trip out took over 2 hours and the return was over 3. Considering such a delay, no communication from crew left most passengers agitated. This was apparently due to choppy sea conditions.
"Rhodes to Fethiye by Dodecanese Flying Dolphin"
Extra 10 euro per person at Rhodes harbour for harbour tax abit unexpected but ease of obtaining boarding pass from friendly female employee who spoke 5 languages, passport control both sides smooth operation, boarding simple into the Aegean Princess, comfortable seats, soon gliding across the sea in just over 1.5 hrs docking at Turkish port. Polite efficient crew and happy to help. Some might find the speed abit daunting and I found it quietly positive. Would use again 4 seats cost £130 Sterling
"The ferry operator was good but directferries sent me to the wrong port."
Dodecanese Flying Dolphins was a good and easy service. Unfortunately on my booking confirmation, directferries.co.uk displayed the wrong location for catching the ferry. This made for a stressful situation where I barely made it in time for the trip!!! 5 stars for the ferry operator. 1 star for directferries :/
"It’s part of the trip "
It’s part of the trip! Holiday trip to Turkey with a family group taking in Rhodes on the way. Initially dealing with Direct Ferries was frustrating as a booking confirmation was never received by email and the ease of communication was not great. Generic stuff and long wait on hold etc etc You arrive at the port and check in which is easy and there is a €10 a person Port tax if you are not returning to Rhodes. We already had our Turkish Visas at £20 a person. (If the UK did this we would have a hospital ion every corner but never mind it’s part of the trip) The crossing took nearly 4 hours in a boat which looks like a barge on steroids. Very fast for about 30 minutes then had to revert to safety speed because of the sea conditions which were choppy and there was a swell but not anything like the crossing between Holyhead and Dublin in the winter. The boat we travelled on was called the Aegean Prince and there was another slightly larger more modern boat which we had seen in Rhodes which arrived just after us in Fethiye. Arriving in Fethiye and immigration all easy enough. Staff were good and it was a laugh looking back, but it’s not for the faint hearted so if you aren’t a good sea traveller I would consider your options. So we made it to our holiday in Kalkan and getting there is just part of the trip!
"Just ok"
The catamaran looks run down. Staff are not friendly and the boat did not leave on time. I would look for other options next time
"Shambles "
The Aegean Prince was absolutely fine. The problem was at the port in Rhodes. Complete shambles. The boat was delayed by 1 hour. Nobody was told. There were 3 ferries there waiting to depart. The waiting area had around 30 seats for people of the 3 ferries to wait.
"Check in first"
The map link from direct ferries is useless - you have to go to the tourist port to check in before you can go through passport control. Apart from this everything worked very well. The staff are very helpful and the journey was very fast
"Wrong boat"
We were booked on the faster boat but travelled on the slower bigger boat from another company.
"Need a new ship?"
1st leg from Rhodes to Fethiye was fine, though the journeys took 1hr 50 mins instead of 1hr 30, and you can see from the internal fittings that the ship is really aging. When we arrived at the terminal for the return trip we were told there was a technical problem with the engine and the ship wouldn't be sailing. They had no back up boat so the next 3hrs they attempted to arrange buses to transport us to Marmaris then onto another companies ship to take us back to Rhodes. Throughout the 3 hour wait there was very limited info provided to the passengers and we were concerned we might be stranded in Marmaris for the night. However, they arranged the buses and we reached Marmaris in time to get the boat to Rhodes. We effectively lost 4hours of our holiday hanging around waiting. Got to Rhodes at 14.30 and should have been there by 10.30. In the end, they got themselves out of a fix but it was a poor experience and very poor communication from 12FD and that boat needs an overhaul or to be replaced with a newer model
"Ferry from turkey to rhodes"
We really enjoyed this trip..booked on line..very puntual..comfortable and clean. Staff were lovely...easy and quick..in hour and a half you are in rhodes old town, exploring and eating lunch! Highly recommend this day trip though think lots of people staying.
"Trip to Rhodes May 2019"
Punctual and ferry times were exact
"Rhodes to Fethiye"
We booked a cabin for 4. It was excellent. We boarded at 12.30 am, so went straight to bed. Slept until we docked at Paros, at around 9 am and ready to disembark at Rhodes at 10 am
"Direct ferries gave wrong location"
The direct ferries booking confirmations I had both gave the wrong location for the departure. Direct ferries needs to fix this ASAP or you will have customers missing the boat!!
